Musical Worlds Join Together During Hope for Haiti

The "Hope for Haiti Now" benefit concerts masterminded by film actor George Clooney hope to raise $1 billion for the victims of the natural disaster that struck the Caribbean nation on January 12Th.

My selection for this week Music Monday is a beautiful Beatles' evergreen song "Let It Be" presented by the talented singer Jennifer Hudson singing on Live performance Hope For Haiti.

The best performance of the night, next to Beyonce's awesome rendition of her hit "Halo", Jennifer Hudson does the legendary group "The Beatles" justice with this magnificent piece.

What a fitting performance for such an extraordinary cause. Let there certainly be hope, for Haiti, and may God shine his light on those in need.

The performances, staged in New York City, Los Angeles and London, was broadcast across the globe on television and the internet — including ninemsn — in what's being billed as the most widely distributed telethon in history.

The New York City show, hosted by Haitian-born Wyclef Jean, featured performances from Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J Blige, Shakira and Sting.

In Los Angeles, Alicia Keys Christina Aguilera, Dave Matthews, John Legend, Justin Timberlake, Stevie Wonder and Taylor Swift played in the concert hosted by Clooney. A group performance from Aussie Keith Urban, Kid Rock and Sheryl Crow was also featured.

The recently-announced London showcase Coldplay's talents and featured a special group performance from Bono, The Edge, Jay-Z and Rihanna.

The stage performances also included across to CNN's Anderson Cooper, who gained notoriety for rescuing a bleeding Haitian boy during violent looting.

On top of the musical performances, more than one hundred big-name film, TV and music stars answered phones for the telethon.

Funds raised from the event be evenly split among a list of relief organisations including the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund, the United Nations World Food Program and individual funds set up by Oxfam, the Red Cross, UNICEF and other aid organisations.
